OBJ Export for Solid Edge is a Wavefront (.obj) file export add-in for Solid Edge®. This add-in gives Solid Edge the ability to export 3D solid and surface data from a Solid Edge part or assembly document to 3d polygon meshes in an OBJ file. OBJ Export for Solid Edge tessellates solid bodies in a Solid Edge document into a set of triangular meshes. These meshes are then exported to an OBJ file as mesh objects. The OBJ file can then be imported into a variety of CAD applications. OBJ Export for Solid Edge is very easy to use. Once installed, it automatically loads itself into Solid Edge and adds a new submenu called "OBJ Export for Solid Edge" to the Solid Edge Applications menu. The 'OBJ Export for Solid Edge' menu consists of the following commands: # Export - Export meshes to an OBJ file # Help - Display the OBJ Export for Solid Edge help file # Register - Register your copy of OBJ Export for Solid Edge # About - Display the OBJ Export for Solid Edge About box OBJ Export for Solid Edge comes with detailed documentation for each command as well as a tutorial to get you started in the shortest possible time. The OBJ File Format The OBJ file format is a geometry definition file format first developed by Wavefront Technologies for its Advanced Visualizer animation package. The file format is open and has been adopted by other 3D graphics application vendors, making it a universally accepted geometry file format. The OBJ file format is a simple data format that represents 3D geometry alone - namely, the position of each vertex, the texture coordinate associated with a vertex, the normal at each vertex, and the faces that make each polygon.

OBJ Import for Solid Edge is a Wavefront (.obj) file import add-in for Solid Edge®. This plug-in gives Solid Edge the ability to import geometric data from OBJ files. OBJ Import for Solid Edge reads polygon mesh data stored in OBJ files and imports it into Solid Edge. A polygon mesh in an OBJ file is comprised of a set of triangular and/or quad faces. OBJ Import for Solid Edge creates trimmed planar surfaces for each triangle/quad and knits them together to create a body. If the polygon mesh is closed (i.e. it does not contain boundary edges) then OBJ Import for Solid Edge will create a closed body feature, otherwise an open surface will be created. OBJ Import for Solid Edge is very easy to use. Once installed, it automatically loads itself into Solid Edge and adds a new submenu called "OBJ Import for Solid Edge" to the Solid Edge Applications menu. The 'OBJ Import for Solid Edge' menu consists of the following commands: # Import - Import an OBJ file # Help - Display the OBJ Import for Solid Edge help file # Register - Register your copy of OBJ Import for Solid Edge # About - Display the OBJ Import for Solid Edge About box OBJ Import for Solid Edge comes with detailed documentation for each command as well as a tutorial to get you started in the shortest possible time. Mesh To Solid: http://www.sycode.com/installers/mesh_to_solid.exe

Mesh To Solid is a software to convert a mesh into a solid. A mesh is a set of vertices connected by edges that describe triangular or quadrilateral faces. These faces describe the shape of the object that the mesh describes. Meshes are often used to describe closed solid or open surface objects. However, general solid modeling software do not have methods to manipulate or modify mesh objects. Solid modeling operations such as boolean operations (add, subtract, intersect), extrude, offset, fillet, chamfer, rib, draft, shell, hollow, etc. are possible only with solid or surface objects. Moreover, there is no way to convert a mesh into a solid so that the solid modeling operations can be carried out on it. Mesh To Solid solves this problem by giving you the ability to convert a mesh to a solid. Mesh To Solid can read mesh objects from the following file formats: Rhinoceros files (*.3dm) 3D Studio files (*.3ds) Stereolithography files (*.stl) Wavefront files (*.obj) Mesh To Solid saves solid data in the following file formats: ACIS files (*.sat) Rhinoceros files (*.3dm) Mesh To Solid is designed to be extremely user friendly and easy to understand. Its as easy as opening a mesh file using the Open command and saving it as a solid using the Save As command.
