SayPad, the freeware talking text editor can read you a good book or help you write one, using SAPI 5.1 Text To Speech (included). It can convert Text to Audio for a whole book in one run, splitting off chapters into well named Audio files. You can fit huge files into it like the whole Bible for instance, (In fact it has a filter you can turn on that skips over verse numbers to let you hear it like a story.) Say Pad is a keyboard driven talking text editor. Most of the controls are similar to any notepad. There are minor differences. It has some audio commands, such as hear block, and line read, and can read to you like a story. It lets you set the start and end of the selection block but if you move your position while the shift key is down, it will make the new block to be what you have just painted. I know of no upper limit to how much text it can hold. You can control how it automatically handles spacing when you cut and paste by using the auto spacing feature of the menu. If you want to hear something spelled out, turn on spelling. It can burn Audio file sets or Wave file sets. All user dialog is spoken.

AbcThai for Windows is an alternative Thai text editor with translation help for those with basic knowledge of Thai writing. To type Thai you can use the standard keyboard in a unique way or one of the on-screen keyboards. The Thai keyboard (Ketmanee layout) is supported as well. You don't have to install Thai fonts if you use the built-in graphics. Line-by-line translation help for English-Thai/Thai-English and German-Thai/Thai-German. Basic dictionaries are included (ca. 5000 words each) You can extend them as you like or use your own dictitionaries. Since Thai is written without gaps, analysing of the lines (parsing) is necessary by using the dictionary. The search routines are written in machine language and therefore very fast. Compose your translation by dragging the words from the resulting wordlist (in a separate window) and dropping them to your edit window. Single words can be searched for with wildcards.
In a separate lookup window you can search for words in the dictionary as you type.
